MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT October 1, 2021
This message is from Dave Olney, Superintendent of the Hesperia Unified School District.
I’ve tried to give you a break from my voice, but I felt it important to reach out to you today. Over the past year and a half, we have dealt with the various issues, concerns, and mandates as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. I have heard from many of you during this time. Some have felt that we needed to do more, others have felt we should do less. I understand the competing views and the frustration that this time has continued to cause throughout our community. Today, the Governor made an announcement about a pending vaccine requirement in our schools for both students and staff. As the Governor’s office did not make this information available until his press conference, we are still working to gather information, but nothing will be put in place immediately. There are things, as a public school district, that we must do, but at the end of the day, I will always try to do what is best for our students and for our community. I will keep you posted on this development. I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

He intentado que descansen de mi voz, pero sentí que era importante comunicarme con ustedes hoy. Durante el último año y medio, hemos lidiado con diversos problemas, inquietudes y órdenes, como resultado de la pandemia de COVID-19. He escuchado de muchos de ustedes durante este tiempo. Algunos de ustedes han sentido que necesitábamos hacer más, otros que deberíamos hacer menos. Entiendo las opiniones encontradas y la frustración que este periodo ha seguido causando en nuestra comunidad. El día de hoy, el gobernador dio un aviso sobre un requisito de vacunas pendiente en nuestras escuelas tanto para los alumnos como para el personal. Ya que la oficina del gobernador no puso esta información a disposición del público sino hasta su conferencia de prensa, todavía nos encontramos recopilando información, pero no implementaremos nada inmediatamente. Tenemos cosas, que como distrito de escuelas públicas, debemos hacer, pero al final del día, siempre intentaré hacer lo mejor para nuestros estudiantes y comunidad. Los mantendré informados sobre el desarrollo de todo esto. Les deseo a todos un fin de semana maravilloso.
